John Donne s A Valediction Forbidding Mourning And...
Love can be quite a difficult topic to write about, expressing oneââ¬â¢s intimate and innermost emotions requires a great level of dedication and honesty. If done correctly, the outcome is truly stunning. John Donneââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"A Valediction: Forbidding Mourningâ⬠and Katherine Philipsââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"To Mrs. M.A. at Partingâ⬠are two masterpieces of this genre. These poems depict the concept of true love so meticulously that the reader cannot help but envy the relationships presented. Perhaps the reason that these works are so effective is due to the fact that they are incredibly similar to each other. Although some differences are present when it comes to structure and gender concerns, the poems share the same theme of love on a spiritual level and show many parallels in meaning. To start off it is important to realize that a spiritual bond is goes much deeper than a personââ¬â¢s surface needs and desires. A spiritual connection is a bond between two souls and i ts intense nature allows it to last even the harshest conditions. The speaker and his wife from ââ¬Å"A Valediction: Forbidding Mourningâ⬠have a relationship that has reached this level as well, ââ¬Å"Dull sublunary loversââ¬â¢ love / (Whose soul is sense) cannot admit / Absenceâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ (Donne 13-15). ââ¬Å"Sublunaryâ⬠lovers refers to people whose relationships have not reached a spiritual level. Since, the relationship is ââ¬Å"dullâ⬠and is physically oriented, the couples rely on intimacy and touch in order for the relationship to thrive. The speakerââ¬â¢s relationship with

`` Song Of Solomon Written By Toni Morrison And Film The...
Maya Angelou once said ââ¬Å"Prejudice is a burden that confuses the past, threatens the future and renders the present inaccessibleâ⬠. This sentiment is apparent in the novel Song of Solomon written by Toni Morrison and the film The Searchers directed by John Ford. In both these works of fiction prejudice is an underlying theme of the central plot. Throughout both plots, it becomes apparent the cause, cost and cure for prejudice taking the form of racism. The root of prejudice in Song of Solomon comes from slavery and the legacy of it that the generations that follow carry with them. The continuing legacy of slavery is evident in the protagonist Milkmanââ¬â¢s own ancestry. For example, Milkmanââ¬â¢s own true last name is unknown because it had been taken from his family when they were slaves, and when slavery was abolished his family got their surname, Dead, via a drunken union soldier making a careless mistake. This shows the magnitude of how much was taken from black citizens. Their freedom, their pride and their own identity. This also shows the reader how much of Milkmanââ¬â¢s own history and self is unknown to him. History like his own familyââ¬â¢s ordeal with slavery, which he only discovers through a song well into his adult life. His great grandfather, Solomon, flew away to Africa to free himself from the clutches of slavery, even though it cost him leaving behind his wife and twenty one children. This legacy of sl avery, unknown till Milkman till he was a grown man, still affects him and

US National Debt
Americaââ¬â¢s national debt has a significant effect on its current economic situation. Political leaders come up with political rhetoric that does not in any way inform Americans about the current debt situation (Solow 29). Foreigners own $11.7 trillion of the outstanding debt which is almost half the total amount of debt owed to the public. Such an outstanding debt is a direct burden to the American people (Solow 29). The economic effect of this debt will affect both present and future generations.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on US National Debt specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The American government has found it difficult to repay its debt in the last decade because of poor strategy and investment (Celasun 57). The government has continued to use borrowed money on tax cuts and war instead of investing in infrastructure and education. Skilled labor and infrastructure are very important factors of production which can help the government to improve its production (Celasun 58). Debt repayment becomes much easier if there is extra production. The American government is always keen on repaying its debts because failure to do so would increase the cost of borrowing (Whalen 112). The statutory debt limit is one of reasons that can prevent the Treasury from making debt payments on time. America has no intention of defaulting even with the current credit-rating downgrade. America owes foreign lenders in dollars and this makes repayment of loans much easier (Whalen 112). There are many ways through which America can repudiate its current debt and enhance economic growth. The government can encourage inflation to weaken the dollar so that repayments are made at lower rates compared to borrowing. This strategy applies to both local and foreign borrowing. The inflation strategy works well for America because its borrowing and debt repayment is always done in dollars (Solow 29). It is im portant for the government to be very careful when using inflation as a way of repudiating its debt because of the danger of uncontrolled inflation (Solow 29). Americaââ¬â¢s domestic debt is completely different from foreign debt. The repayment of principal and interest on bonds owned by Americans benefits the taxpayer apart from being a direct burden (Stein 84). Local banks, businesses and households lend money to the Treasury that eventually benefits the American people. The taxpayer feels the burden of repaying foreign debts because the interests accrued from the loans can not in any way benefit the local people. Private investments decline as a result of Treasury bonds that result from domestically owned Treasury debts (Stein 84).Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? The Treasury bonds available for sale would be very few if the domestically owned Treasury debt was small. Many investors are forced to invest in Treasury bonds due to investment security reasons (Canuto 97). Although corporate bonds are more profitable than Treasury bonds, investors are forced to bear that burden because of the increasing amount of domestic debt. Treasury bonds are very useful in times of economic recession because they become a source of extra savings for meeting the increasing demand for goods and services (Canuto 97). Private investors can access their money to improve the production of goods and services and in the process reduce the effects of economic recession such as unemployment. It is difficult for the Treasury to embark on debt reduction during economic recession because most of its spending at that time is normally facilitated by domestic and foreign borrowing (Stein 157). It is difficult to reduce Treasury borrowing because the curren t economy depends on public borrowing and spending (Stein 158). The recent market failures in America led to economic recession. In an attempt to increase their profits, banks end up taking excessive risks and giving out bad loans which are some of the major causes of a financial crisis (Whalen 77). Americaââ¬â¢s stimulus packages have completely failed to yield the expected results and in the process leading to an increase in the federal deficit and debt. The design and execution of the stimulus package was not done in the best way possible and this made a significant contribution to the current financial crisis in the U.S (Whalen 77). Lack of proper regulations and government control is responsible for the recent market failure. The American government was forced to come up with radical changes after the 2008 election in order to control economic recession (Canuto 123). Financial market laws determine whether the country will experience financial stability or not. The growing p ublic debt is as a result of increased federal spending on Medicare and social security. Irrational exuberance in the housing market is another reason for the current market failures. The American government failed to monitor the prices of houses and this made investors in the housing sector to inflate house prices (Canuto 124). This led to the collapse of the housing market which is very important to the American economy. In conclusion, the American government has a lot of work to do when it comes to reducing the negative effects of its current debt situation. The American economy depends on both domestic and foreign borrowing for its spending (Stein 156). It has been difficult for the country to repay its debt as quickly as possible because most of the borrowed money is spend on war and tax cuts (Stein 211). The failures in the financial and housing markets made a significant contribution to the recent economic recession.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sampl e on US National Debt specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Works Cited Canuto, Otaviano. Responsibilities of a sports coach Essay Example
Responsibilities of a sports coach Paper The managing role of a coach is unique, the same as each role, a manager must select balanced teams for example in hockey his two star players are both strikers but if they are playing in that position they dont pass well together and they dont receive enough service from the midfield. The coach sees this and decides to drop one of them back into midfield. This works well, the strikers have a support striker and a finisher, and they are getting better service from the midfield. If the coach hadnt changed it then the players needs would not be met, and it would not maximise their potential. The manager must be very decisive and be a leader for his team, for example, in the up-coming game the opposition are playing a 4-3-3 formation, the coach sees this and decides to utilise the space on the wings and plays his side in a 4-5-1 formation with the wingers supporting the striker. However, at half time they appear to have changed to a 4-5-1 themselves, the coach assures his players to keep it the same and they have the ability to beat them man for man. The unique thing about the coaching role compared to the other 5 roles is that the match day mind frame is almost like a game of chess, the other 5 roles focus on your own team but the manager must be mindful of both his side and the opposition, making and counter-acting moves according to what is happening in front of him. However if the technique is right the players can practise and improve maximising their own potential. The educator must not only educate the players on the playing field, but off it as well, for example in football the coach has an U16s team that have just finished a match. They are in the dressing room and are talking about going out to celebrate by getting drunk and getting in fights, the coach stops them and tells them that its not cool and improvises by teaching them about other thing they can do to celebrate. The educator role is different to the others because its not just about the matters on the playing field or involved in the sport, its about lifestyle and living standards too. In football the venue isnt where the map said it was, a local says its across the main road so take safety precautions every session to make sure all the kids get across safely. In basketball the hall you hired out is half the size as you thought it was so you make changes to your course arrangements to change the venue to a near-by facility.à In rugby your venue has been double booked, you have to try an find another venue so you ring round all the possible local venues.à Health and Safetyà In rugby your filling in for a sick colleague, you turn up 15 minutes earlier than usual to carry out a quick risk assessment to make sure there are no dangers. In football your training on an Astroturf and 3 of your players are wearing studs, you tell them they must use trainers or they cant because they risk injury.à In hockey none of your players have the correct protective equipment for goalkeeping so you adapt your session into a possession game.à Equipmentà In tennis you are working at a school and you are told the school will supply equipment, you bring a small amount of your own equipment in case of any problems that may occur. In football you have no equipment the day before a session, you contact your venue and colleagues to consult about borrowing equipment.à In basketball you have 20 kids to cater for but only 10 basketballs, you make sure your session plan is all 1 ball between 2 related.à Players Needsà In rugby you have an exceptional player, you may have to cater for him/her by making the session harder for his level of skill.à In Tennis you have a leg amputee you may have to cater for him/her by making the area of his/her court smaller or playing against a weak player.à In football you have a player with asthma, you make sure he has his inhaler with him at all times whilst playing or taking part in physical activity.

Politics and Religion essays
Politics and Religion essays (This is about the Protestant Reformation, i believed that it has always existed strictly as a political event) Political and social struggles causes many religious uprising. Even though Religious Reformations are major breakthroughs in the Catholic Church, its premises remained strictly as a political event. Protestantism was a technique used by noble princes as well as emperors to break away from the control of the Catholic Church and also a reason to gain dominancy over other nations. However, the foremost reason that Reformations remains primarily as a political event is because it served as a reason for conflict between church and state. The first reason that the Reformation was a political event was the alliance between religious group and the state. Protestant groups, especially Lutherans and Calvinists, sided with national authorities to create international political upheaval. One mentionable historical event was the Hapsburg-Valois War. To gain control of Italy and the Burgundian realms, Francis I of France, being a Catholic, did not hesitate to form an alliance with the Protestants in his objective to crush Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor, the fall heir of the Burgundian territories. On the other hand, the Protestant card was also played by Charles when he repressed Francis with the help of the Henry VIII, head of the Church of England. Thus, this showed that Protestants during the Reformation was created ideally to and was manipulated by strong political powers in their conquest to gain dominancy over other states. Another reason for the governmental event was its usage by the noble princes to gain political freedom for their states by breaking away from the control of the supreme governer. What was a religious struggles between the Protestants and the Church became a movement towards a politically freed state. One example would be the internal conflict between Charles V and his German pr ...
